About Calian
Calian is a homegrown Canadian company providing innovative solutions in healthcare, training, advanced IT, engineering, and cyber security for government, military, and commercial clients worldwide. Calian is a dependable partner in several critical and high-technology sectors. The company is headquartered in Ottawa. Initiate has been proudly working with Calian for over two years.
Off to a great start
Two and a half years ago, Initiate supported Calian with designing custom icons to help differentiate its products. It was a great relationship from the start, thanks to a really great team in their marketing department. Since then, we’ve worked together on a multitude of projects, from collateral updates, event support and backing up the internal design team.
The evolution of our collaboration with Calian
Over the past year and a half, Calian tasked us with providing a higher level of brand stewardship—ensuring brand alignment and offering additional care and support across their five business units.
We redesigned Calian’s brand guidelines to match updates made to their digital assets by another amazing agency, TBK. We transitioned the new look and feel created for the web to physical collateral, including data sheets, brochures, and trade show material and documented the updates to the visual brand comprehensively. To accomplish this, Initiate had to deeply understand Calian’s brand so it could stand strong on every design piece created, digital or physical.
Today, our team works closely with Calian’s leadership team on brand strategy, acting as a trusted design resource and brand ambassador.
Booth support
One of our key roles has been to help Calian adapt its brand to the event stage. We have been instrumental in creating immersive experiences for various audiences within the health and defence sectors, including CANSEC, Canada’s global defence and security trade show. Balancing multiple brand messages and digital displays, while still ensuring a cohesive visual brand experience, is always a challenge but one we thoroughly enjoy.
